Trending Now – The Midi Skirt
Hey guys!
So, I’m trying out a new series about how to wear trendy pieces, hope you like it!
This post happens to be about the midi skirt. What’s that you ask? Why it is simply a mid length skirt, hitting between the knee and ankle but most often falling somewhere near the calf. Some people think this is a bit “old lady” like or something they can’t pull off but I totally disagree! This style can look amazing on anyone if you style it the right way. I chose three different styles of looks with the same skirt to show you how you can change the look of the same piece by what you pair it with. It is worth noting that I wore this skirt higher on my waist so it ends up falling pretty much at the knee versus a true midi length which is closer to the calf but it still fits the bill! If you want to see how differently you can style this trendy piece, keep reading!
For an edgy casual look, I paired a graphic t-shirt with my floral midi skirt and some chunky heeled booties from Target. I added a necklace plus some ruffled socks to have a touch more femininity. This Audrey Hepburn tee was an amazing $3 thrift find that means something extra special to me because my dad has always told me I remind him of Audrey when I wear my hair up. So I was so excited to find this!
This is a more classically casual outfit that is so versatile. If you have a more casual environment at your work place, this would be perfect for that or I could see wearing this at a daytime event with friends or family too! I put a lace bandeau under this studded, stone washed denim top and added a delicate necklace. I went with my favorite lace up sandals to complete the look.
I think this look is my favorite of the three. It could rock a girls night out, stun for date night or even be perfect for a wedding. The crop top is form fitting and stops at the smallest part of my waist this giving my body some shape. That necklace works perfectly because although it is a large statement piece, it doesn’t have a lot going on in terms of stones or intricate designs so it doesn’t take away from the skirt. That faux fur bag was also a thrift find that I almost walked away from because I thought it might come off too tacky. It was $4 so I figured I would try to make it work and boy am I glad I did! I love how it looked with this outfit. Those nude pumps are my favorite Sam Edelman’s that are ridiculously comfortable and you will certainly be seeing them on here again since I wear them regularly.
There you have it, 3 very different ways to rock the midi skirt trend. Hope you got some inspiration to make this trend work for you, if so leave me a comment with your ideas!
