Wardrobe Staples: Accessories
Hey Guys!
Since many of you really enjoyed my wardrobe staples post, I decided to do an accessories version. The idea is the same that there are a few pieces every wardrobe should have that are your go to pieces, something you can rely on to look good with any outfit. So I will be showing you purses, shoes, and jewelry that are staple pieces to own including links to buy them if you fall in love with something you see because let’s be real, it is bound to happen we’re talking about a girl’s favorite things here!
Handbags
A classic every day handbag is a no brainer. Something in a classic style and neutral color would work best for this. The size really depends on the person and their unique needs. This might be something to spend a little more money on since you use this every day, you want it to have as much lasting power as possible. Think of it this way, you can spend a little more up front and have that purse for several years or over that same course of time buy 3 cheaper purses and end up spending the same amount if not more.
An evening bag you can count on for a night out or special event is another staple item. I personally think you could get something with a little more detailing such as beading or a faux animal skin so long as it is more of a neutral color that will still be able to go with anything. Since you are dressed up, having something fun going on with your purse totally makes sense and so long as the detailing is more classic than super trendy (i.e.: a clear jelly bag) it will work for many years.
Shoes
Pumps are the shoe staple and I recommend you have both a black pair and a nude pair. They are timeless and will absolutely go with any outfit. I recommend spending a little more money here as well because you not only want these to last as long as possible but you want these to be comfortable because as your go to shoe you want to be confident that you can wear them through an 8 hour work day or dancing for several hours on girls night out.
Boots and/or booties are great staples to have for those cooler seasons. They are a super cute finishing touch to your outfit and are still practical. I personally have both boots and booties that are staples in my wardrobe but it is not necessary. There are many varying heights ranging from ankle to over the knee and preferences will vary from person to person, I do however recommend a flat boot or low heel for your staple boot. Again, this is mainly for comfort as you want to be able to count on these for long periods of time.
Flats and/or sneakers are my go to shoes for casual days out, running errands, traveling and so many other kinds of days. I am more of a sneaker kind of gal but I also have some casual flats like Tom’s which I consider a staple. I also own a staple pair of flats for slightly dressier occasions for which I don’t want to wear heels. Sandals would also fit in with this category, a must have for summer. The options here are endless and will vary greatly depending on each individual but again I recommend something classic and in a neutral color.
Jewelry
Some of you may not be every day jewelry wearers so some of these may not be necessary for you. For those of you who do wear jewelry every day the first item you should own is a simple necklace. As with many other items I’ve talked about, the style of this will vary depending on your personal taste but my recommendation is for something made of quality materials to ensure it will last.
A statement necklace is something most people would benefit from owning whether you normally wear jewelry or not because you need something to wear for special events. For some this might be a simpler necklace with some precious gems while others might enjoy something more bold. Most of these necklaces are classic pieces even if they are bold because a statement necklace never truly goes out of style.
Earrings are another item that not everyone wears every day, including me. But for those of you who do, a good pair of studs or small hoops for every day wear will be your go to pieces. Similarly, you should have a pair of special event earrings that are a bit fancier and maybe more of a statement piece.
So that sums up this accessory staples post, I hope you found it useful and maybe I even helped you find your new favorite thing! Be sure to leave some comments on what your favorite wardrobe staple pieces are.
