VIIcode Oxygen Eye Mask Review
Hey Guys!
Skin care has become more and more important to me as I get older each year. I am fortunate to have good genes and to have started taking care of my skin as a teenager so that I don’t have too many signs of aging as of yet. Under eye areas can be a tough spot for many people. Dark circles, bags, fine lines and wrinkles all like to hang out down there. Although, I don’t have too many issues with my under eyes as of yet, I do have some fine lines that my makeup settles into which bother me severely! I also think preventative skin care is crucial to maintaining a youthful appearance.
I was given the opportunity to try out VIIcode O2M Oxygen Eye Pads for Dark Circles. Full disclosure, they did send me this product for free but as always I will be giving you my honest opinion of the product. I will go over some information about the product and what it claims to do followed by my review of the product. To learn more just keep reading!
The Product
As usual, before I get into my actual opinion of the product I will go over what it is and what it claims to do. This is an 8-hour overnight under eye treatment. That differs from many other sheet masks I have tried because most of those you are done with after 15-20 minutes. It says it is mainly for dark circles but also helps reduce puffiness, crow’s feet, fine lines and bags.
Each box contains 6 pairs of under eye masks which are meant to be used 2 to 3 times per week. A full course is 3 boxes, so if you do it 3 times per week you should see your full results in 6 weeks.
The texture is a gel like material which is a feature of this mask. They say the “specially formulated gel texture doesn’t stick, stink or annoy you in any way. The application and removal is literally effortless.” So that is definitely something I was interested in testing out because your under eye skin is very delicate and it is not good to use products that tug or pull at the skin.
They make some pretty big claims, almost over selling the product such as saying they use “the finest ingredients in the world” and that it was “originally created by Dr. Byrne Victor for Queen Josephine (Napoleon’s wife).” To be honest, claims like that often turn me off to a product because it’s almost like a fairy tale claim if you know what I mean. However, I also read some of the other claims such as explaining how oxygen is essential for the formation of new cells and that “VIIcode allows for oxygen flow during the entire time you are wearing it, spurs healthy cell growth and makes your skin incredibly more radiant and glowing.” A couple of the ingredients they mentioned were Ecological Oxygen Plant Extraction from the rare plant Vadaniya and the welwitschia mirabilis (resurrection fern) which are meant to make your skin radiant and glow, essentially they are brightening agents. That made sense and was easier to believe. The masks are vegan, all natural and alcohol free as well which are all great qualities that I definitely look for in skin care.
They do offer a 100% money back guarantee which makes trying this product out at $58 a pop, a much easier decision. If it doesn’t work for you, get your money back!
My Review
So there were definitely things I did and did not like. Let’s just get the cons out of the way first.
First and most important in my opinion, these things do not stay on well at all. I have no idea how anyone could keep them on for a full 8 hours while sleeping. Unless maybe they stayed flat on their back the whole night, but does anyone actually sleep like that? I had a hard time getting them to stay on even before I was in bed.
The other thing I really didn’t like is that I found them to be uncomfortable if they were near my lower lash line. But in order to cover my problem areas, that was where I needed it to sit. I know they are meant to be worn at night so the fact that I had them on about 15 minutes before I went upstairs to bed might be the issue. But if someone were to want to wear them while taking a nice bath or something I feel like it would not be enjoyable. They made it so I could not look down and it actually made my lower lash line itch a little. I thought maybe I was allergic to them but there was no rash or marks left once I removed them. I will say however, once I was up in bed and had my eyes closed it was much more comfortable. So it very well could be that they simply are not meant to be worn during awake time.
So how about some of the good points?! They feel amazingly cool the moment you put them on and that feeling lasts. They do feel hydrating and even though I have no idea how long I actually had them on since they fell off while I was asleep, my under eye area did look bright and refreshed the next morning.
When I tested out a new pair to see how the removal process went, I found their claim to be accurate that it does indeed pull right off with no tugging on the skin. I mean, I wasn’t really expecting it to pull considering I was having a hard time getting them to stay on in the first place, but that is still a pro!
The gel like texture was interesting, neither bad nor good. Just interesting. It actually reminded me of those stinky hands you could get in the .25 cent machines. You know what I’m talking about? It was a little bit more “moist” (not a fan of that word but it is incredibly accurate so I had to use it) than those but the mask would stick to my fingers much like one of those toys when I touched it.
Overall, because I was not able to get the masks to stay on and get the full treatment I would not recommend it for its intended use. If you are looking for something relaxing to add into your spa night, I would say these are great so long as you remember to wear them lower on your eyes so they won’t irritate them!
