Hey Guys!
The whole wide world of makeup. It’s endless really. And the price range varies from questionably cheap to ridiculously expensive. So that might leave you wondering is this product worth the price tag? There are plenty of products for which you’re largely paying for the name. That doesn’t mean it’s a bad product, it just means it isn’t really worth $85 and you can find something comparable for considerably less.
So what products are worth their higher price tags? There’s many actually but I’ve rounded up 10 of my favorites for you. Now these products are not all stupidly expensive but they are all of the more high end side versus the drug store or more affordable side. And yes girl, they are bomb.
Let’s check them out!
A good primer can make all the difference in the end result of your makeup. This mineral veil primer from Hourglass makes your skin look flawless. Giving you an amazing base for your foundation. It works well for oily skin, acne prone skin, and all other types of skin making it universal. It minimizes pores and conceals redness and other imperfections. It has earned the nearly perfect ratings on nearly every site it’s on.
Foundation is another crucial part of your makeup routine. I have two favorites although one is technically a CC cream. The Makeup Forever one is award winning and great for more coverage. It isn’t full coverage, more like medium but it’s buildable. It is known for giving you flawless looking skin while being invisible. And it has some serious lasting power.
For something a little lighter I love IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream. It is very lightweight but buildable to get light to medium coverage. It is also super moisturizing and contains SPF which is an added bonus. I find this applies best with a BeautyBlender. You can check out my full review here.
Speaking of BeautyBlender, these little sponges work some magic. And there aren’t really any others which compare to this. It’s kind of pricey for what it is but it is so worth it. It absorbs excess product while pressing it into your skin leaving you with a beautiful dewy finish. No brush strokes, no caked on makeup. It’s a wonderful little trick.
To really ensure your makeup stays put it’s important to set it with powder. This translucent powder from Laura Mercier is amazing. It leaves your skin looking smooth and doesn’t cake up your makeup. It’s lightweight so you won’t feel like you’re wearing a mask. So worth the money.
If you’re on the hunt for a good contour kit then you should pick up the Kat Von D Shade and Light Pallet. You are getting 6 shades for $50 which is less than $10 a shade. That’s actually a really good deal. Plus these are high quality powders. They go on smoothly and blend out easily. They have great pigmentation so a little goes a long way. Best part is you can replace each shade individually so if you find you use some more than others you won’t have to buy a whole new kit every time you run out of one shade.
Any highlight by Becca is going to look amazing. My personal favorite is the collab with Jaclyn Hill, Champagne Pop. It’s gorgeous on every skin tone. You want to talk about pigmented, you seriously need a dab and your cheeks will be blinging. Plus it lasts all day. I can’t recommend these enough.
A couple must haves for the eyes are TooFaced Better Than Sex mascara and Stila Stay All Day Eyeliner. That mascara is hands down my favorite of every mascara I’ve ever tried (which is a lot.) It gives your lashes lots of length and volume with no clumps and no flaking. It also holds a curl like a dream. I can’t say enough good things about it!
Then we have the eyeliner pen. It’s called stay all day for a reason. It goes on and does not budge until you’re ready to take it off. It’s black as night which is favorable so you don’t end up with grey looking eyeliner. It’s super easy to use and apply to making it all around an amazing product.
Last up is a great setting spray. I have a few that I really like but I think Urban Decay’s All Nighter is my favorite. Setting your makeup helps the powder set and keeps your makeup from sliding off your face as the day goes on. You can also use it to increase the intensity of eye shadows. This stuff will keep your makeup in place and looking flawless for hours.
That's It!
I know it can be hard to justify spending lots of money on things like makeup but in my opinion these items are so worth their price tags. You will get a huge bang for your buck and won’t regret checking these out. Do you have any other items totally worth the splurge? Be sure to let me know in the comments below! See you next time. ☺
