IT Cosmetics CC+ Cream Review
Hey Guys!
Wedding season is officially upon us! I think this is the first year in a while that we don’t have more than a couple weddings. While I love weddings and all, too many can be too much! So I’m grateful for a bit of a break this year. My favorite weddings though, are the ones I have gotten to be apart of. There is something so special about being a part of a dear friend’s big day.
Last weekend was actually two good friends (one of mine and one of my husband’s) getting married to each other. Double bonus! It was beautiful weather, but it was also hot. As I was standing up in the wedding I needed a foundation that would hold up the whole day. Since I have combination skin that tends to get more on the oily side in this hotter weather I knew I was going to have to find something long wearing that could really hold up to this crazy standard I was setting. The problem is, I also have dry patches so I hate using matte foundations because they cling to those dry patches and they never look good on my skin. So I needed something long wearing, with a more dewy finish. Enter It Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream.
I went to Ulta with a few foundations in mind that I was deciding between. I guess maybe the fact that I was standing there with three foundations in my hand just staring at the display as I was thinking things through in my head, made it apparent I could use some help. So I ended up talking to the lady who was the rep for It Cosmetics and then trying out this foundation I hadn’t even given a thought to. Since it was called a CC cream I was initially turned off because those don’t usually have very full coverage which is what I wanted. But I let her try it out on my skin to see how it looked and I was so surprised by it!
Clearly, I ended up purchasing it and I do really like it! I have mostly pro’s about this stuff but there is always room for improvement so I will include a couple cons as well. To get my full review just keep reading!
The Packaging & The Product
Let’s talk packaging first. My favorite thing about this is that it is a pump. It is much more sanitary using a pump because it keeps bacteria out of your product. It is in a squeeze tube type of bottle which can be nice to really get use of all your product. Though personally, I like glass bottles because I can get a Q-tip in there to scoop out the last bits of product better than I can from a squeeze tube.
The product itself claims to be full coverage, anti-aging and color correcting. It contains SPF 50+ which is a great bonus. On Ulta’s website it says “Clinically shown to give you 179% of skin hydration, smooth skin texture and enhance skin brightness, this breakthrough color-correcting cream never creases or cracks and instantly camouflages skin imperfections including dark spots. Plus, it’s infused with an advanced anti-aging serum made of hydrolyzed collagen, peptides, vitamins and antioxidants that work in harmony to diffuse the look of wrinkles, minimize pores and give you a more radiant, supple and flawless-looking complexion.” It is also an award winning product so to say I had high hopes for this product is a gross understatement.
My Thoughts & Review
So I love this foundation. I was pleasantly surprised by how much coverage it gave me after 2 coats of product without looking the slightest bit cakey. It is a pretty thick formula but I still needed about 1 and 1/2 pumps to cover my whole face with one coat. I only used one additional pump for my second layer because there were only certain areas of my face that needed more coverage.
I used a Beauty Blender to apply it for the wedding and I have been using a flat top kabuki brush since then. I really like the finish with both applicators which is great.
It made my skin look flawless and radiant. It definitely lasted the entire day through the heat and everything. I love that it has SPF in it because that is one less product to have to put on your face. It did cover some hyper pigmentation I have on my chin and cheeks so the color correcting aspect of the product does work. I also did notice it blurred some imperfections such as a few small wrinkles and my pores which I was really pleased about. I have used it for about a week at this point and it has yet to disappoint me.
As far as the claims it makes on Ulta’s website, I would say they are certainly accurate and in no way are they an exaggeration. The anti-aging portion of it is hard to tell until you have a prolonged usage of the product so I can’t speak to that claim as of now. It was very moisturizing and I think that is part of what gave my face that radiant glow.
The only downside in my eyes, is that the shade selection is very limited. There are only 7 shades and their darkest shade I believe would be too light for some darker skin tones. I found that my skin tone fell somewhere between the lightest shade, fair, and the next darker shade, light. I had gotten an airbrush tan before the wedding so I ended up purchasing the “light” shade. I figured it would be good for summer since I am tanner during this time of year anyways. But the colder parts of the year I will need to purchase the “Fair” shade. I may even find the need to mix the two together to get the right shade. The only other thing that may be a con to some although it didn’t bother me, is that there is a scent. The product has a light kind of citrus scent and I know some people who have sensitive skin may get some irritation from a scented product. So keep that in mind.
Overall, would I purchase again? Absolutely, this will be my new go to foundation. Do I recommend it to you? Yep, sure do. 100%!
